Swedish Massage
Massage is used to relieve a variety of complaints. These include the pain & discomfort associated with chronic muscle tension, stiff joints, sciatica, sprains & overworked muscles. Receivers of massage often report a sense of heightened well-being. Swedish Massage sessions are 1/2 hour to one hour in length. The client disrobes and is draped with a sheet or towel. Only the area being massaged is exposed. Oil or lotion is applied to the body to facilitate easier application of the strokes. The Therapist may also incorporate active or passive stretching and hot or cold packs to enhance the effectiveness of the treatment. Massage is contraindicated for the following conditions: fever, any contagious disease, jaundice, acute phlebitis & varicose veins. Pregnant women must check with their physician before receiving Massage Therapy.
CranioSacral Therapy
CST is a gentle non-invasive, non-manipulative therapy that helps to release
the underlying forces that maintain stress patterns in the body. The Therapist
is trained to listen deeply to the subtle motions of the craniosacral
system and to bring awareness to where there is constriction. By using
his/her hands to witness any restricted patterns, the therapist provides
an opportunity for the client's body to release the holding and return
to its natural fluid state. While this usually occurs on an unconscious
level within the body, the results can be clearly felt. CST can be useful
for diverse conditions including allergies, asthma, TMJ, exhaustion, cerebral
palsy, digestive disorders, headaches and many more. Because CST affects
the pressure of the fluid in the brain, its use is contraindicated in
recent acute aneurysm and hemorrhage, brain stem tumor and concussions.
Infant Massage Instruction
Massaging your baby is a tactile translation of love, security and physical
comfort - a dance between you and your baby. You use the same strokes
that a generation of parents all over the world have used, yet you massage
your baby as no one else can! You are taught by a Certified Infant Massage
Instructor. Infant Massage can help to improve circulation in newborns
and relieve some common infant ailments such as gas & colic. It also promotes
the formation of a strong nurturing bond between parent & child, and helps
relax both parents and newborns. Studies performed on premature infants
prove that massage can result in significant weight gain & developmental
improvements
AromaTherapy
Aromatherapy is the use of pure essential oils obtained from various flowers, fruits, bark, roots, etc. to receive their therapeutic benefits. Aromatherapy preparations are helpful for conditions such as stress, allergies, insomnia & PMS. Aromatherapy is a welcome addition to any holistic care regimen.
Trigger Point Therapy
Myofascial pain often arises from Trigger Points
located in taut bands of muscle that produce radiating pain patterns and
changes in muscle function. Trigger Points can perpetuate, exacerbate,
complicate or even mimic common neurological, orthopedic, and systemic
conditions. The Therapist locates the Trigger Point, then applies pressure
for up to 30 seconds to allow the point to release. This is a slow, deep,
specific treatment

Orthopedic
Massage
Orthopedic Massage is an exciting new approach to the treatment of numerous
pain and injury conditions previously treated only with conventional methods.
The difference between Orthopedic massage and other massage techniques
is the fact that it is not one specific technique. The word "Orthopedic"
as defined in Mosby's Medical Dictionary is "a branch of medicine concerned
with prevention and correction of disorders of the locomotive system.
These include skeletal musculature, joints and related tissue." Therefore
Orthopedic massage is seen as a comprehensive system that allows a capable
therapist of integrating a variety of massage's most effective techniques
in the treatment of soft-tissue dysfunction, pain and injuries (both chronic
and acute). An Orthopedic massage therapist is knowledgeable and skilled
in their understanding of pain; injury conditions and massage treatment
techniques.
Myofascial
Release
Fascia is a continuous web of connective
tissue that wraps every muscle fiber, nerve, and organ in the body. Myofascia
is the unit that refers to the muscle and its fascial covering. Ideally,
the muscle and the fascia are not adhered to each other, or to the neighboring
myofascial units, but glide freely. However, through trauma, poor nutrition,
repetitive use syndromes, or postural habits, these tissues can become
glued to each other, creating restrictions of movement that often impact
areas far from the site of restriction as well as locally. Myofascial
Release can provide long-term relief from chronic pain & dysfunction associated
with the restricted areas. Conditions treated include neck, jaw & back
pain, recurring injuries, scoliosis & stress-related disorders. It is
contraindicated in the case of malignancy, aneurysm and acute rheumatoid
arthritis.
